Did you ever fit in? You tried to. No one could say you didn't try but you possessed something the others didn't have. A conscience worth listening to, intelligence and empathy, a knowing that came from deep within. Actually that's the reason you seemed older than all the rest. Those childish and silly, always willing to do stupid things, they would say you're missing out on life but then what sort of life do they have, with their false friends, who tend to vanish into thin air if really needed. Aww, this is really sweet! It kinda reminds me of your first love in a way as that's when it's more passionate and spontaneous - plus the fact you feel that you're going to be with that person forever. I would say the message of this poem is that love does bring out the best of us, especially if you're with the right person. Good luck with the contest!
