Cold sea spray erupts

From a windswept morning tide.

Sun breaks through the clouds.

Awestruck, I take a snapshot.

Sister gives my hand a squeeze.

Written May 7, 2015, for the-haiku-club's Summer Scents Contest. My choice of subject is perhaps a bit cliche, but there's a story behind it. My grandmother introduced me to the app called Rain, Rain last night, and I love the Ocean Waves setting, so as I was drifting off to sleep, I revisited a memory of walking on the beach at Padre Island during my college graduation trip and taking pictures of the sunrise (depicted below, so does that make this a haiga, saiun? :hmm:). Padre is one of my favorite places and somewhere that my family has vacationed frequently, so I thought it was a more-than-appropriate theme. This also started out as a fragrance poem but became a multisensory poem instead ... as you do. :XD: There's even a bit of wabi-sabi here, since I'd wanted to capture a clear sunrise but had to appreciate the alternative beauty presented to me in that moment. So, I guess this fits May's theme for BeautyInRawHumanity, too!
