Levanter

Written March 4, 2015, as an entry for the-haiku-club's Shining Wind Contest. It's a simple five-seven-fiver this time, but the words just came to me so easily. I chose to write about The Alchemist, because that's one of my favorite books. Interestingly, the wind which the narrator initially calls "levanter" reminds me of the Spanish word "levantar," which means to get up or arise; and for this reason I chose to write about levanter because it's like a challenge or a reminder to rise and meet change in my life. I'm on the brink of some changes in my life and cycle through feelings of hope and fear, so this was a timely prompt.
